The Murray Police Department Investigations Division is staffed with five detectives, which includes two supervisors. The unit is responsible for investigating all major crimes that occur within the city of Murray. All investigators of the Murray Police Department are highly skilled in the various areas of law enforcement and conduct both criminal and narcotic investigations. This unit works closely with federal, state, and local agencies.
Kentucky Criminalistics Academy
The Murray Police Department currently has two graduates of the Kentucky Criminalistics Academy (KCA) on staff. The KCA is an intensive 10-week training program designed to meet the needs of Kentucky Law Enforcement Agencies in the areas of evidence identification, collection, and preservation. The training consists of 400 hours of Kentucky Law Enforcement Council approved curriculum. The goal of the academy is to provide the crime scene investigator with the most recent crime scene investigative techniques and technology available today.
