Training
Comprehensive annual training is delivered to all fire fighters in the following areas:
- Fire Fighting
- Vehicle Extrication
- Hazardous Materials
- EMS Medical Skills
Training is designed to reinforce the
concepts of both skills and public service in all of the training
programs that are delivered. This is accomplished through many different
forms of teaching methods including traditional classroom lectures,
videos, and hands-on training classes.
New firefighters receive approximately
400 hours of training prior to being assigned to the Operations
Division. A training calendar is developed annually to ensure
firefighters receive a minimum of 100 hours of continuing education
