City ordinance requires that those citizens that work, perform a
business related activity, or live within the city limits of Murray obtain a city sticker for each personal vehicle utilized within the city limits. This includes Murray State students
who reside within the city limits of Murray. The cost of each sticker is
$50.00 and is valid for a period of one year.
To obtain a city sticker you will need to know:

City Sticker Requirement
A city sticker is required within thirty (30) days of becoming engaged in a business related activity, work related activity, or residing within the corporate city limits. If a city sticker is not purchased within thirty (30) days of the date required, then a late fee of $50 shall be accessed. This late fee will be in addition to the regular cost of the sticker.
City stickers are valid for one year from June 1 through May 31. Individuals purchasing a city sticker within 30 days of engaging in a business related activity, work related activity, or residing within the corporate city limits shall be charged according to the prorated schedule as listed below. The individual must provide satisfactory evidence of their qualifying event for proration, or else the City will assume the sticker is late and assess the late fee of $50 in addition to the regular cost of the sticker.
If an individual receives a citation from the Murray Police Department, a fine shall be assessed at $50.00, which is levied in addition to the $50 late fee, and the regular cost of the city sticker.

Transfer of a City Sticker
If any individual sells or otherwise disposes of a motor vehicle or motorcycle for which a city sticker has been issued hereunder prior to May 31, they shall remove all of the adhesive sticker from the motor vehicle or motorcycle and return it to the City. The individual may be issued another sticker for another motor vehicle or motorcycle for the unexpired portion of the sticker period upon payment of a transfer fee of one dollar ($1.00).
In the event of the loss of the adhesive sticker, a replacement shall be issued upon a $50 payment for the cost of the sticker in addition to a $50.00 late fee.
Military personnel which are active, retired, or disabled veterans and have been issued a special military related license plate under KRS 186.041 shall be exempt from one city sticker fee for the motor vehicle or motorcycle or if the military personnel who quality for, but have not obtained, a special military related license plate under KRS 186.041 shall receive one city sticker at no cost with proof of military service.
