Tax Payments

Tax bills are mailed at the beginning of each
October to owners of property within the Murray City Limits. The tax bill due is
calculated by the City Clerk’s Office using the Property Value Administration (PVA)
office’s assessed dollar value of the property. There are three components to
the tax bill: Police and Fire, School Tax and General Fund. General Fund and
Police and Fire are set annually by the City Council. The school tax rate is set
annually by the Murray Independent School District. The City Clerk’s office
simply collects the school tax but does not set the rate. See the table below
for current and past year’s tax rate percentages.
